Access Funds: Nigerian Government to Provide Monthly ₦25000 via Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT)
The Nigerian government has recently launched several loan schemes and programs to alleviate poverty and empower its citizens. One of the most recent initiatives is the ₦25,000 monthly Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) program, which aims to provide financial assistance to impoverished individuals in the country. The program is set to run for three consecutive months and is expected to benefit 15 million households.

In addition to the CCT program, the government has also launched several loan schemes for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and small-scale traders. These include the N150 billion Presidential Palliative Loan for MSMEs, the N300,000 GEEP Loan, the Back-to-School FastCash Loan, the FG Non-interest Loan, the ₦50,000 IYALOJA/GEEP Loan Scheme, the N5,000,000 SMEDAN Loan, and the $100K Student Loans.
The Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu, has emphasized that the ₦25,000 granted to each beneficiary of the CCT program will significantly enhance their spending power and improve their economic prospects. The program is part of the government’s commitment to poverty alleviation and economic revitalization.
To ensure transparency and accountability, the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Wale Edun, has assured the public that the CCT program will be conducted in a transparent manner, following established global practices. The program includes mechanisms to disclose beneficiaries upon inquiry.
The World Bank Country Representative, Shubham Chaudhuri, has expressed readiness to support Nigeria’s economic measures of diverting funds from fuel subsidies. The institution aims to assist its member states in eradicating poverty among their respective populations.
